Free will and Marriage – Dasha

The question of free will is a very common one in astrology. On one side, we make predictions about what would have happened or what is going to happen. This makes us feel that things are pre-decided at the time of birth and there is nothing in our control.
On the other hand, we take precautions, perform remedies, select good muhurt, etc. and try to ensure favourable outcomes for various situations in life.
This question is especially relevant in terms of relationships and marriage, the domain of Venus. A good example of this free will was seen in a recent consultation.

The native had the following combination in her chart:

Firstly, the lagna is on the border and is changing within a matter of seconds. The lagna was first confirmed using the profession, education, and events of the past 3-4 years.
Thereafter, while describing the married life of the native, it was clearly advised to the client that the marriage should be done after the end of 2026, and should not be done in this year at all. The key words here are that the marriage should not be done this year. This was told because the native was running the dasha of Venus-Mercury-Mercury, and the near future dasha carried potential for marriage.
Thereafter the client confirmed that the native is already in a relationship and the plan is to get married in this year itself with discussions already happening.
First let us understand why this suggestion was given.
Look at the combination created by Mercury in D9. It is debilitated being the lagna lord, and further its dispositor is also debilitated. Not only that, but debilitated in the 8th house itself!
It is obvious what outcome can be expected if the marriage is performed in this year. Remedies can only help to reduce the intensity of this combination but cannot fully eliminate it as it is a repetitive circuit being formed. Hence the best medicine was prescribed – prevention. Not getting married right now will allow the native to go through some future pratyantar dashas where separation may happen. Once that is over, the next dasha where marriage can be done was advised.
Avoiding marriage for these 1.5-2 years will enable the native to cross some of the most difficult years of marriage with ease.
