One of the techniques to understand how the dasa is going to fare and where majorly the focal point will be is to understand when the dasa is starting (look for AD for better results) and see where that planet was at the time in the transit chart.
So, in the chart attached – the dasa is of Saturn MD – Mercury AD and you can see that Mercury is in Sagittarius at the time of entry dasa.
Mercury is to be placed in 2nd house in natal chart so all the focus will be towards multiplying family, getting credit from boss (name = Mercury), building assets and buying things to travel (Sagittarius).
In this dasa, he is facing issues from boss as now there is another guy he has to report in between and the credit is not given to him at all as dispositor Jupiter is debilitated in 3rd so whatever he worked towards in Saturn AD is turning out to be useless as Mercury is 8th lord too.
He is spending money on astrologers, healings, remedies (8th lord in 2nd since the start of dasa) just to ensure optimization at his work place.
He doesn’t want to leave the firm since he will be eligible to get stock options soon (2nd House – Mercury – Stocks + 8th so getting it in some form)

I have used this very indirectly during readings as well but the exception is that if 6th lord is retrograde in ENTRY CHART that there will be unusual events from unusual point of view and it becomes difficult to pick up as the reason is that it is the Prarabdh Planet.
Please try and analyse this to see why certain dasas or repeating dasas gives problems like if you find 6th lord retrograde and there is a court case going on, it will continue to go so throughout that time period in the ENTRY PERIOD CHART.
