Mrityu Bhag in Jyotish
In Ancient times – Jyotish was regarded as a Divine Subject and Astrologers were revered for their knowledge and Guidance. The work of an Astrologer is to show you where the light is in the Chart – and what events may unfold upon your life be it positive and negative. In recent times that level of respect and the quality of Jyotish has gone down and people mostly want remedies for their own problems and expect magic to happen when they go to the astrologers , while they themselves are doing something wrong and then blaming the planets.
Science and Astrology go hand in hand, and all the Phenomenon that is happenning or has happened can be explained through the Vedic Texts and Jyotish.
Such as Sun being the Central Star of the Solar System has determined the boundaries of all the other planets which shows that Sun being the Karak of Brain rules over all bodily functions – without the Brain , no other body part would be able to Function. One Revolution of the Sun around determines the Year and Age of a Person showing that one has completed one small Cycle of their Life. Similarly if someone starts waking up early you will observe more energy levels and the health of such a person will improve as time progresses.
You will see that Surya Dev in the Lagna a person can perform several immoral activities as well if there are negative combinations but he will always behave like a king and be in his own kingdom , be it big or small.
One important concept is of Mrityubhag – which is the special degree of each house and planet as it shows a death like situation in that area – The Table is available in Phal Deepika and is also provided below. As a student of Jyotish Have you ever thought as to why certain planets goes in Mrityubhag and why the degrees differ for each house and planet ? As a student of Jyotish you should always question and seek answers as to why things are as it is given.
Let us take the Degree of Lagna when its Aries rising – the Degree given is 1 degree whereas for Taurus its 9 degrees. The answer lies in the energy of that degree and its Nakshatra. The Zodiac follows a sequence of energies starting from being in search of a Soul in Ashwini Nakshatra to leaving the world and letting go of your name in Revati Nakshatra.
The Points of the Mrityubhag are the Degrees where the energies of that planet or house Goes in the State of Extreme Debilation.
For the Lagna it is 1 degree as in the Nakshatra of Ashwini the Soul is still in the search of the Soul and is not fully developed – which causes such a native to get issues of Body Deformities.
Whereas for Taurus its the Degree of 9 as its the transition from Independence in Krittika Nakshatra to Isolation and creativity in Rohini Nakshatra which becomes detrimental for the significations for Taurus – Resources and Wealth. Note that the Navansh has gone to Pisces which signify losses and letting go of everything which is opposite to that of the significations of Taurus.
The Degree of Moon is 26 Degrees – it is the phase when the Baby just comes out of the Womb and the Umbilical Cord is about to be Cut. Moon ruling over water element – becomes very unstable and requires help of someone to cut the Umbilical Cord so that the Baby can come into this world – The Navansh of this Degree is Scorpio in which Moon is Naturally debilated as well. See how the elements of the planets and its significations play such a huge role in determining the state of the planet. For every planet you can go ahead and find out the reason for every planet in a similar way.

Sir i have ketu in Capricorn 10 degree in 8th house… Mrityu bhag. What does it signify ?
Degrees mentioned here are to be taken exact or is there any fluctuation. As i was told by lacode5031 that my jupiter is in mrityubhag as my jupiter is in 3rd house cancer sign at 26* but in this table it’s 27*
And of we are considering fluctuations of 1-2* then my ascendant is of 11* taurus so according to this table lagna should be in mrityubhag as well. Can someone please explain.🙏🏻
Ma’am, could you please tell me what lacode5031 has told you about the effects of Jupiter being exalted AND in mrityubhag? I have a friend’s chart where Jupiter is in cancer and also in mrityubhaag in 8th house. Sag ascendant. If you could kindly tell me what lacode5031 has told specifically about Jupiter exalted in mrityubhag, I would be very grateful. I’ve been searching an answer for this type of special case for so long. Where a planet is exalted but in mrityubhaag. Thank you so much in advance ma’am.
Looking forward to your reply

Respected Sir/Ma’am,
I am seeking clarity on a specific Gemstone (Ratna) prescription regarding two complex placements in my chart. My Lagna is Capricorn (Makara), and I have concerns about the following scenarios:
1. The Blue Sapphire (Neelam) Paradox:
I have Saturn placed in the 5th House (Taurus) at 04° 22′. I understand that the Mrityu Bhaga (MB) degree for Saturn in Taurus is 4°00′ (as per Jataka Parijata).also jupiter is retrograde with saturn in same 5th house( Taurus)
Since my Saturn is Retrograde, it appears to be kinetically ‘applying’ towards this fatal degree (moving from 4°22′ down to 4°00′).
* My Query: In this specific case, would wearing a Blue Sapphire be dangerous? I fear that amplifying a Retrograde planet that is effectively ‘walking into’ its death degree might accelerate 5th-house suffering (mental rigidity or issues with progeny) rather than strengthening the planet’s beneficence. Is Shanti (pacification) safer than Pushti (strengthening) here?
2. The Emerald (Panna) & 6th House Activation:
For Capricorn Lagna, Mercury is a Yoga Karaka (ruling the 9th), but it also rules the 6th House (Gemini).
In my chart, Rahu is posited in the 6th House.
* My Query: If I wear an Emerald to strengthen the 9th house luck, do I risk inadvertently activating the 6th House negatives (disputes, diseases, debts) because Mercury is the dispositor of Rahu? Does strengthening the dispositor of the 6th house Rahu empower the Rahu-driven obstacles?
Given these two factors—the ‘applying’ Mrityu Bhaga Saturn and the 6th House Rahu connection—what is your final verdict on wearing Neelam or Panna?
