This is the D1 chart of a client who approached for a consultation regarding career struggles. At the time, he was going through the Antar Dasha of Saturn, following the completion of Jupiter’s period.
At first glance, the chart appears promising from a professional standpoint. The 10th house looks strong — with the Lagna placed in the 10th, and the 10th lord supported by planets with Digbala. This typically indicates a stable and respectable career.
The native, having some understanding of astrology, asked a valid question:
“If my 10th house and related planets are so strong, why am I still struggling in my career?”
He also mentioned consulting several local astrologers and pundits in the past, and most had prescribed remedies focused on the 10th house, the Sun, and Mars.
Now, as per the teachings of Deepanshu Sir, Mars in the 10th can lead to conflicts at the workplace. However, upon deeper analysis — including divisional charts — it became evident that Mars and the Sun weren’t the root causes of his struggles.
So, I asked the native a few pointed questions:
- Have you or your spouse experienced a miscarriage? — He said yes.
- Are you facing issues related to fatty liver? — Yes.
- Do you deal with office politics, or feel unrecognized for your efforts? — Yes, absolutely. In fact, he was recently laid off due to internal politics.
- Did your career begin with a very low income? — Yes.
These responses pointed towards a deeper issue, not connected directly to the 10th house. The root lies in Jupiter.
In his chart, Jupiter is debilitated and placed in the 3rd house, which is considered Maran Karaka Sthan for Jupiter. This placement indicates a lack of Punya (past-life merit). Since Jupiter also rules the 5th house, which relates to past-life karma, children, wisdom, and recognition — his struggles align closely with this affliction.
Notably, whenever he enters a major or sub-period of Jupiter or Saturn, these challenges intensify — including professional instability, financial strain, and health concerns.
Further, Saturn is bringing obstructions to the house of the Sun, which rules recognition and authority, adding to his professional troubles.
So what’s the solution?
In this case, remedies aimed at the 10th house will have limited effect. Instead, the focus should be on healing Jupiter and enhancing Punya.
Recommended remedies include:
- Seva (selfless service) for underprivileged or helpless children.
- Serving life forms (Jeev Seva) — such acts gradually build spiritual merit and clear karmic blocks.
- Focusing on spiritual growth, generosity, and humility — all aspects of a strong Jupiter.
Key Insight:
Often, the visible problem area in a chart isn’t where the actual problem originates. A deeper diagnosis is essential to identify the real source, and only then can effective remedies be prescribed.
