pending karma

Third Layer of Lineage and Pending Karma

In this world, everyone has their own story related to karma, but one thing is common for all – karma always carries both positive and negative aspects. When positive karma influences someone, they take pride in their luck and effort. However, when negative karma strikes, people often blame ancestral karma and feel guilty, wondering why they are suffering.

One point I want to highlight in this article is that if something is bothering you, it is always connected to your own action or reaction.

For example – suppose a man earns wealth through gambling and acquires property. His son and grandson enjoy this wealth. But in the third generation, the grandson’s son develops addictions like alcohol and gambling, eventually losing everything. His father then blames ancestral karma for the downfall. But this is not right. When you enjoyed the easy money inherited from your lineage, you accepted it. So naturally, the energy of that money, and how it was earned, will shape future outcomes. This is not a curse but a form of pending karma.

To deal with such situations, our shastras provide solutions. Practices like Shraddha, Pitru Paksha Pooja, and Pitru Dosh Nivaran are designed to help us overcome the burden of lineage-related karma.

Now, let me share a case study on this topic.

This is the chart of a young boy who had been suffering from frequent health issues. His father came to me for consultation regarding his health. After examining his charts, I asked the father about his own relationship with his father. The man remained silent, surprised at how this was related to his son’s case. I then asked if, in his lineage, any woman had suffered in marriage due to dowry or mistreatment. He said, “Maybe, but I don’t know for sure.” I asked again if anyone in his lineage had suffered from skin problems. He confirmed that his great-grandfather had such issues. I asked further about his great-grandfather’s married life, and though he did not know much, he mentioned that the great-grandfather was married twice.

At this point, the health consultation turned into a discussion on pending karma. From the chart, I observed that someone in the lineage had imposed ego or harshness on a female family member, causing her suffering. This was indicated by Mars as the 8th lord aspecting the 2nd house, and Venus conjunct Ketu in the 8th house of the D12 chart. Notice also that the 9th house represents the great-grandfather. That is why, initially, I asked about the father–son relationship, since the 9th house represents both father and ancestral karma.

I am not presenting all the charts here, but the consistent placement of Venus across them made the connection clear.

As I mentioned earlier, every karmic problem has a solution in our shastras. Therefore, I prescribed remedies related to Venus for this boy, to help him overcome the challenges.

Thank you.
