Focal Points of Jyotish
There are always various focal points in Jyotish which you eventually realise how they actually work mainly the Lagna, Sun and Moon after practising for many years, and one day everything seems to start connecting as to why a shlok or a meaning is written in a particular way for which the person needs special grace to see through the eyes of the rishis.
This week there were two such shlokas which struck to the core.
When the Moon is in the Lagna and aspected by a malefic planet and Mars is placed 7th from it, the child perishes being abandoned by the mother.
In the above case, you can clearly see that Moon has traveled 10 places away from it carrying base energy of Saturn and Mars has gone opposite from it’s own quality creating opposition so mother will not be there to look at the child, will not be able to properly groom her for life.
Concept 1 –
This will also work if Moon is placed in 10th house and aspected by malefic and Mars is afflicted in chart like in one case – Moon in 10th and Mars 4th so mother blames child for wasting resources while at the same time creating trauma in his head where he is not able to study or do anything worthwhile in life.
Another is where Moon is in Aries and Mars debilitated in D1 and D9, mother gave child emotional trauma where for first 10 years there was lot of pressure on child to eat things, study and not do any extra-curricular activities and later on, because of that once child went to different city and country eventually, mother didn’t even bother to ask what exactly is going on and now that trauma is coming out in form of various anxieties and immune system related issues.
And, the one which gave goosebumps is –
Concept 2 –
The quantity of oil in the lamp will vary with the portion to be traversed by the Moon in the sign it has entered – deeper meaning is how much the person will be able to take and bear things, the ability to adapt, to fit in, keeps things with him (as people who cannot keep things to themselves and gossip have weak Moon), longevity (as quantity also means how much a person can life as Jupiter (breath) exalted in sign of Moon) is all governed by Moon, how much cash flow and riches one can acquire too that’w why Deepanshu Giri has said to look at Moon and dispositor to understand whether the chart is top 1% or not.
The wick is to be guessed from the Lagna, i.e will vary with the portion of the rising sign below the horizon – deeper meaning is how much the person can physically get things done once it is able to adapt and fit in the oil and light it self, without being burnt sooner, to give life and light to others by being the medium, to take responsibility and maintain on the tip of the lamp, to keep making sure the lamp is lit for others for as long as the breath (the oil within) is there.
The character of the lamp is to be guessed from the character of the sign occupied by the Sun, i.e. whether the light is moveable, fixed or both is to be declared from the nature of the Rasi in
which the Sun is in – deeper meaning is Sun also represents association and environment (refer to Jamini Sutram course – Leo navansh), as the character of the person is mainly decided by the type of association and environment he is in that’s why Sun gets exalted 9 places away from it’s mulatrikon sign – the sign of knowledge, guru and learned people so that he can take best decisions for others while gets debilitated 3 places away from Leo in Libra as there is base energy of Mercury so he cannot think based on certain choices of people, things which are temporary in nature, where the environment is cold and things cannot grow for others.
The character of the lamp is too similarly determined by the environment it is burnt in – as air/humidity affects burn quality; humid conditions might encourage bacteria but fire kills germs so that others can survive and grow and the type of diya determines your efforts means you are multidimensional and thinking beyond your own territory like a two faced or 4 faced diya that’s why Mercury represents multiplicity and when Sun – Mercury are placed in Lagna, 5th house, 6th house, 7th house or 12th house where one of them ends up being in special position, the person takes responsibility beyond their reach and that’s where Budh – Aditya Yog gets falit.
That’s how the Sun thinks – a true king thinks and that’s what a true character is all about is determined from Sun and trines from it.
I can keep adding more and more to this, but this is where you can come in and type further your own thoughts and interpretations for this.

“Sun mercury in 7th house where a person takes responsibility beyond reach” but sun is debilitated and mercury loses digbal, will this person work for others while burning themselves? In other houses like 5th I guess it’s positive but is it same in 7th too?
Incredible. Yes, I have the Sun and Mercury in the 12th house in the Cancer sign. I am someone who always thinks about my family members, no matter how they behave with me. I take care of them emotionally, support them, give to them, and look after their needs—which I genuinely enjoy doing, especially when it comes to food.”
