Marriage & 2nd House Relation

When we examine the marriage aspect in a person’s chart, we naturally focus on Venus and the 7th lord. Sometimes, an experienced astrologer also considers the condition of the Navamsha. However, very few people pay attention to the 2nd house.

If you look at your chart, the 2nd house represents family matters, but it also reflects your speech, emotions, values (Sanskar), and lineage. These qualities are just as important in marriage. I’ve seen charts where there are no problems with Venus, the 7th lord, or even the Navamsha, but the 2nd lord or 2nd house is severely afflicted. As a result, the person suffers in their marriage but cannot take the next step, like pursuing a divorce.

Sometimes, a person is unable to walk away and continues to suffer in the marriage from day one until today. In such cases, check if there is any affliction to the 2nd house or its lord.

The 2nd house is a deeply karmic house in Vedic astrology. The family you’re born into is a reflection of your past-life deeds. If you consider all the significations of the 2nd house (as mentioned above), you’ll see that it acts as a bridge connecting you with society and your personal happiness. Perhaps this is one reason why the Moon is exalted in the 2nd house.

This connection is further confirmed when we look at the Kaal Purush Kundali, where the lords of the 2nd and 7th houses are the same. This clearly indicates a strong relationship between the 2nd house and marriage.

Now, I’m going to share an example to illustrate this point—

In the chart discussed above, the 2nd house is highly afflicted by Saturn and Rahu. It also has a connection with the 7th house. However, even if there is no direct link to the 7th house, an afflicted 2nd house alone can still cause significant issues in married life.

I made the following predictions for the person:

1. I asked, “Do you have a harsh tone of voice?” — She replied, “Yes, sometimes.”
2. I said, “From the very first day of marriage, your relationship with your spouse’s family hasn’t been good.” — She confirmed, “Yes.”
3. I stated, “You also take a very practical approach to family matters.” — She seemed confused, so I elaborated: “Is it true that you and your husband didn’t plan for a child because of your work patterns?” — She answered, “Yes.”
4. I asked, “Are you now experiencing challenges related to having children?” — She said, “Yes.”
5. I asked, “Is there any history of abortion in your family?” — She said, “No.” Then I asked, “Has it happened in your husband’s family? (Note: the 8th lord is also Saturn).” — She said, “Yes, both his sister and paternal aunt had such experiences.”
6. I asked, “In your lineage, has anyone passed away after a long illness and carried guilt in their heart?” — She said, “Yes, my grandfather.”

These confirmations clearly indicated that her 2nd house is significantly afflicted. Because of this, she struggles to establish meaningful connections with both her own and her spouse’s family. As a result, her married life has been difficult and lacks peace.

My purpose in sharing this technique with you all is to highlight that an afflicted 2nd house alone can make married life extremely challenging. So always try to work on strengthening it.
